A Large Stretch of Desert Coastline - Laurie Towner

While things have been heating up in the a long hot Australian summer Lauire Towner changed his focus from East Coast beach breaks to a series of strong North Atlantic storms through Jan and Feb. Lauire’s plan was simple, spend a couple of months in North Africa seeing what those storm systems might deliver a long a large stretch of desert coastline. This part of the world features big wave bombies, slabs and the classic right points that have become synonymous with the Africa continent. Slow travel is about putting yourself in a place for a prolonged time and really forging a relationship with a new area to get to know it on a deeper level, and the waves in this zone require a bit of time to get to know and line up the right conditions.

Lauire’s day job at need
essentials as a designer has him constantly testing new wetsuit designs, materials and components with focus on building wetsuits better and mid winter in North Africa is a great place to do some serious work on product design and his tube riding.
