Photographs by Nick Green

A very rare and unforgiving slab

Nick Green is a photographer and surfer from Tasmania who we are fortunate to have testing needessentials wetsuits in some of the harshest climates. Nick has spent the past twelve years documenting and exploring the island's many moods and locations. Having recently returned home from living interstate Nick now aims to showcase his island home more than ever:

‘I've always known that Tasmania was my home, but it wasn’t until spending a few months away last year, how much I really realised the strong creative and personal connection this place holds for me. It has such a unique, raw and beautiful feel that simply doesn’t compare to anywhere else I've been. It’s shaped the way I see the world as well as heavily influenced my photography style. I aim to document these special places in a way that accurately represents the way they exist in my mind and how I feel about them personally'.

Torren Martyn locked in position

Durvillaea Potatorum (Bull Kelp) - captivated by the way this stuff moves and reflects light, mesmerising and beautiful to watch

Torren on another sand bottom drainer

Empty freight trains Deep South - a special place

Exploring the sea caves of the Tasman Peninsula

‘Dark Hollow’ - an image that really sparked a creative thread and represented a special time and learning period of my life.

Eddystone Rock - I was fortunate enough to get a spot shooting this day from a helicopter, watching the waves explode on and around this 100ft tall monument in the middle of the ocean was an experience ill never forget

A pulled back perspective of an unknown surfer dwarfed by the magnitude of the bluff and surrounding sea cliffs

I waited a long time for a wave to break here to get this composition - never trust a surf photo

One of the funnest waves to photograph and bodyboard, a slab in the middle of the ocean that throws out water wider than it does high
